A Cornish native, Josh is a recent graduate from Falmouth University, where he specialised in camera and directing roles. A passionate filmmaker (and watcher!), he has been writing and directing shorts since his early teens, giving him a keen eye for low-budget productions. With Malus being his first attempt in the horror genre, he is excited to venture into the festival circuit.
Malus is a genre-bending horror-romance with a psychedelic twist - taking the viewer on a dark, unsettling, yet ultimately optimistic journey through our protagonists psyche.
Through the surrealist lens of a trip sequence, Malus examines themes of insecurity, digital isolation and immaturity, asking us to be introspective of our perception, regardless of how unsettling the result may be. It is a film about growth, in all its forms.
