Maliq - kduswiet // Text me
This experimental music video, inspired by Pierre Puvis de Chavannes' 1883 painting Le Rêve, combines slit-scanning and infrared footage to explore themes of time and light. It serves as both a visual introspection tied to the artist’s discography and a technical experiment, pushing creative boundaries in low-budget music videos for German underground hip-hop.

Based in Nuremberg, Germany, 25-year-old Tom Klimek is a director and art student specializing in film and photography. With a passion for smaller artists alike and the underground music scene, he aims to bring dreamlike themes and cohesive storytelling to music videos and advertisements, drawing inspiration from artists who explore the surreal and the immersive. He also really loves cigarettes.
This project is an exploration of aesthetics through the lenses of time and light, inspired by the haunting vision of Pierre Puvis de Chavannes’ Le Rêve. We wanted to create an immersive, dreamlike space where experimental techniques like slit-scanning and infrared footage merge with german underground hip-hop. This video is as much a technical journey as it is a personal one. Aiming to introduce an unusual visual language to the genre while reflecting the emotional landscape of the artist’s music. With a limited budget, we embraced unconventional approaches to craft a look and feel that feels intimate yet expansive.
