THIS IS A STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL. The Festival is open to students enrolled in grades 6-12 during the 2016-2017 school year and who attend a school in Southern California.

The Malibu Teen Film Festival is an outlet for young talented film makers to share their passion for film making with the Malibu community and network with other film makers including professionals.

The Malibu Teen Film Festival was created by the Malibu Youth Commission and supported by the Malibu City Council as a form of creative expression for students who make films. Selected entries will be exhibited on a large screen at the Malibu Civic Theater for a general audience.

An educational approach will be given to students (Frades 6-12) by providing an opportunity for them to attend film workshops on Saturdays, September 17, September 24 and October 1 in Malibu. Students will be able to learn about directing, cinematography, screen writing, editing and producing from professionals in the business. RSVP required by visiting the festival's website. • Malibu Teen Film Festival was a good experience for my students and their parents. We were the only purely animated film of the evening, program leaned more to documentaries. A number of them quite good. Not sure why we were picked? But glad we were. Three out of my six animators did manage to attend with their parents. I liked that the program was run by high school students. Event was too short, one night only. Could have used with some panels. But grateful for what they did manage to do.
