The Making of a Fighter
“The Making of a Fighter” is a 10 to 15 minute portrait documentary focused on former mixed martial arts, MMA, fighter and current coach at 3rd Street B.J.J. (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), Gardner Watkins. This documentary will explore the motivations and life experiences which drive an individual to willingly engage in physical combat with another human being. The film will place particular emphasis on the psychological, or lack thereof, reasoning for choosing to engage in the sport of fighting. The final story will be organized into three parts; 1: The life experiences leading up to stepping into the octagon, 2: The daily life of an active fighter, and 3: The post-career life of a fighter. This will be achieved through the usage of interviews, b-roll, and archival footage of Garden Watkins’ past fights. We will utilize a combination of locked off and mobile shots in order to convey the desired message of any particular scene.
