Making a water filter

How can we raise awareness about the impact of water pollution on our community? Water pollution is one of the main environmental issues that we are facing, as more than 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water.

Water pollution has very negative effects on public health. A lot of diseases result from drinking or being in contact with contaminated water, such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, dysentery or skin infections. In zones where there is no available drinking water, the main risk is dehydration obviously.

In this project, Grade 3 students started doing their research and then experimented different ways to create and build effective water filters. After setting up the filters and testing them, we further explored what needs to be done to make it more effective and filter the water even better! We learned a lot through hypothesizing, trial and error, critical thinking ways to improve our results, and sharing our product too, to raise awareness of the impact of water pollution on our school, city, country, and world and the importance of ensuring clean water, starting with our community.
