Jeronimo Geldart, a young filmmaker and director of photography from Argentina, is currently studying at Emerson College. With a background that spans across commercials and music videos, Jeronimo is known for his meticulous attention to cinematic quality and detail. Having started his career at 14, he has developed a keen eye for visual storytelling which he now brings to narrative filmmaking. This summer, Jeronimo is excited to take a significant step into the narrative world, beginning production on a new TV series made in Argentina.
"Making Friends in College" grew out of the genuine discomfort of stepping into a new environment for the first time and figuring out how to make new friends. As freshmen at Emerson College, we experienced firsthand that strange mix of excitement, isolation, and trial and error that comes with trying to connect, and we wanted to capture those experiences in an exaggerated and fun way.
The film was shot during our first two semesters with a crew made up entirely of freshmen. Additionally, the characters in the story are played by our real suitemates, adding a unique authenticity and making the filming process an even more personal experience. Through Danny's clumsy journey, we explore the loneliness and small victories (though rare) that make those first attempts at friendship so unforgettable.
Visually, we aimed to achieve the highest level of professionalism possible, performing multiple reshoots until the scenes aligned with our vision. Over several months, we refined the film’s framing and execution as we simultaneously honed our craft as filmmakers. Ultimately, "Making Friends in College" is a celebration of the messy, imperfect, and often hilarious process of putting yourself out there and finding your people.
