Mairead Cahill is the Founder of impact media company 'Wonderoom' and the Creator and Host behind the short documentary 'Sea, Land and City: an adventure into nature restoration’, released in October 2024 on WaterBear. She brings 20 years experience working at the intersection of climate, nature, impact and media across the UK, Europe, Africa and the USA.

As a filmmaker and presenter, she is passionate about exploring our connection to ourselves and the world around us at this time of great change and how to combine incredible storytelling with progressive solutions that support people, communities and nature to flourish. As Founder of Wonderoom, she leads multi-media productions that spark fresh perspective and collective action through immersive learning, storytelling and real world impact.

‘Sea, Land & City’ is a Wonderoom film in co-production with Rubber Republic, distribution partner WaterBear and with sponsorship support by The Crown Estate, Triodos Bank UK and Blue Marine Foundation. 'Sea, Land & City' is Mairead's debut short film as a director, producer and presenter, which she made with director and producer Matt Golding, Founder of Rubber Republic. Together they led the filming, production and edit over the course of 2024, with the majority of the filming taking place on location over 8 days in Summer. Matt Riley, Director of Photography, joined on location and the team of three ventured across sea, land and city for the filming of this project.

The film charts Mairead’s personal journey from burnout to finding restoration in nature back home in the UK and discovering how nature-based solutions across our coastlines, rivers, soil and cities can support our own mental health and wellbeing, and the health of our economy and climate. Mairead hand selected the projects and contributors that appear in the film and provides frontline perspectives on what it takes to restore nature and in the process also restore ourselves.

The purpose of the film is to ignite public and business engagement on the power and potential of nature-based solutions in our own backyard, to help turnaround the UK as one of the most nature depleted and nature disconnected countries in the world.
