BIO
Director 1:
Mahmoud Hemeda is an Egyptian Animation Director, CEO/Co-founder of Samaka Studio, and Co-founder of the Animatex Animation Festival. He aims to represent authentic visual culture and ensure originality in local animation. A High Cinema Institute graduate, he has 15 years of industry experience. Hemeda’s work spans TV commercials, cinema, and short movies, with participation in international festivals. He also teaches and supervises animation courses. In 2018, he co-founded Samaka Studio to elevate Egyptian and African animation. Hemeda also co-founded Animatex, Egypt’s biggest animation festival, providing a platform for talent to thrive.

including “Hateer” and “Farkha W Lakn.”
Teaching and Supervising: Various animation education
courses for all levels.
LYD: Worked as the main animation producer in the short
movie LYD, which received numerous prizes from festivals
around the world.
ICRC: Worked as the main animation producer for three
movies under the name “45 Minutes Palestinian Stories.”

Director 2:
Ahmad Thabit is an Egyptian illustrator & animation filmmaker. A graduate of the High Cinema Institute in 2013, Thabit has since produced many animated films, some of which are Gobaz, and Farkha Wa Laken. With his work, Thabit has become a two-time winner of the Cairo International Animation Forum, with films screened in multiple festivals in the Arab region and worldwide. In 2018, Thabit co-founded Samaka Studio, an animation studio that aims to create global quality animation inspired by Egyptian visual cultural heritage, where he operates as the Chief Creative Officer.
