Vinegar Mother

By going through her image in the mirror, Oscar finds out she's in another world, in another body both completely unknown. While she's dealing with transformation, with her new movements and limitations; she meets Zalebeth, a shapeshifter on the verge of death. Oscar wishes to save him but the situation exceeds her.

Director Biography - Fiona Longobardi

ES: Fiona, también conocida como Vrea, es una artista que vive en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Estudió animación en IMAGE Campus, artes plásticas en ESEA Manuel Belgrano y música e indumentaria de manera autodidacta.
Sus trabajos suelen ser conceptos o historias que desarrolla en más de una disciplina a la vez, creando así una pieza hecha de muchas piezas distintas, utilizando la experiencia misma de cada espectador como parte de la narrativa.

EN: Fiona, also known as Vrea, is an artist based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She studied character animation in IMAGE Campus, visual arts in ESEA Manuel Belgrano and self-taught music and clothing design.
Her works are usually concepts or stories developed in more than one discipline at the same time, creating a piece made of several pieces, using the experience of each spectator as a part of the entire narrative.

Director Statement

ES: Este es mi primer cortometraje animado, y es la tesis de mi carrera de animación 2D. Es una obra hecha enteramente por mí, sonido inclusive.
La pieza oscila entre lo figurativo y lo abstracto, tanto en la narrativa como en la técnica y el estilo, por una razón. Es una reflexión que vengo construyendo desde mi niñez sobre el desarrollo de la propia identidad, cómo ésta influye en la percepción de nuestro cuerpo y nuestra relación con él, teniendo como conclusión la fundamental solución de desearse sexualmente a uno mismo.
El corto viene acompañado, hasta ahora sólo en Buenos Aires, con una instalación tamaño gigante de un muñeco inmenso de la protagonista, escenografía, iluminación y música. Las esculturas están hechas con tela, papel de diario, cartón, alambre y yeso.
Sin embargo, el corto es autoconclusivo y puede apreciarse sin la presencia de la instalación.

EN: This is my first animated short film, and it was the final project for my 2D animation degree. The entire project is made entirely by me, including sound design.
The piece oscillates between the figurative and the abstract, in the narrative as well as in technique and style, for a reason. It is a reflection that I have been building since my childhood about the development of the identity, how this influences the perception of our own body and our relationship with it, having as conclution the fundamental solution of self sexual desire.
The film is shown, for the time being just in Buenos Aires, along with an art installation which consists of a giant doll of the protagonist, scenography, illumination and music. The sculptures are made with fabric, newspaper, paperboard, wire and plaster.
However, the short film is self-conclusive and it can be appreciated without the installation.
