Ashok Vasu (b. 2001) is a young filmmaker from Subang Jaya, an ungodly city loved only by him. Driven by a desire to financially ruin his father, Ashok wrote and produced the anthology film “Made In Subang”.
With the promise of pizza and vague threat of knife violence, Ashok brought together seven up-and-coming student filmmakers to direct one short film each in the project. Taking on various different roles in addition to producing these short films taught him many practical lessons on the do’s and don’ts of filmmaking.
A production that spanned three years and over 100 cast and crew members, Ashok’s hope is that the experience can serve to be a launching pad for all those involved to further pursue their place in cinema.
