Madalitso

Madalitso are a unique duo hailing from the sub-Saharan nation of Malawi. They are a couple of street musicians who perform on a 4 string guitar and a babatone, which is a home-made bass instrument that is plucked to create the sound. The tuning of the notes happens with a bottle (like a slide guitar). They have played for many years busking on the streets of a Lilongwe slum area and through hard work and perseverance have begun to make a name for themselves on the world music scene. This documentary explores a slice of their European tour as they play some of the UK's festivals.
