We are so thankful that MY HERO gave our rough little film with a heart, written by my friend's six year old daughter, an honorable mention. Your encouragement inspires us to keep creating. Kudos!!

Update: The folks at MY HERO emailed me to explain that our film had been an official selection, but it just wasn't chosen as a finalist to be showcased on the sight. My confusion is all cleared up - thanks guys!

This is apparently a web-based film festival. I don't believe my film ever appeared on their site? Which makes me wonder why they changed the pending status to "selected"? Was it just selected for further review? This was a couple years ago but I emailed them to see how I could "attend" the festival and learn more about my selection. They never responded. I could have emailed more, but all in all I think my selection was a fluke. The site seems to be a fine media host with lots of good film selections, but I don't understand this mix-up.

    Response from festival:

    Hi Vanessa!
I emailed you as well to let you know that many submissions are considered Official Selections but not Finalists. Only Finalists will end up showcased on our site, and only select films will be screened at events. I'm sorry that we missed your email in 2018, but we appreciate you reaching out. We admire the good work you are doing on behalf of the environment and hope you will consider re-submitting for this year, (waiver codes in email).
    Kind regards,

We have submitted to MY HERO for many years and have always had a great experience. The festival staff are very organized and communicative. It is a pleasure each year to join the ranks of other films at MY HERO who feature the stories of changemakers and heroes around the world.
