MOSTLY MINIMALISTIC

MARLEN (54) has traveled the world, now she is hiding. Outside, she is radiant, seemingly open to the world. That changes as soon as she closes the door behind her. She has cluttered her life with objects. Everything too valuable, too significant to throw away.
FYNN (32), on the other hand, had wished for a vacuum cleaner for his ninth birthday. In the meantime, he's a "digital nomad." Never staying long, never growing attached to anything. He lives with as few things as possible. Right now it's 244, but he wants to get down to 100.
MARLEN and FYNN - the opposites couldn't be stronger. The fact that they still can't let go of each other, want to convince the other of their concepts of life and finally fall in love with each other is the only consequence of assuming that one can only learn something from opposites.
A film about too much and too little.

Director’s Note
MOSTLY MINIMALISTIC is an inviting, color stained love story.
My Mother was a special woman. She used to be a successful ballet dancer. She was very intelligent and had this wonderful sense of humor. On the other hand, she hid inside her flat with all the things she loved. And she had a very big heart.
I had always wished that someone like Fynn would come around, enter her life and help bring out the best side of her which had always been linked to the Arts.
My extraordinarily deep love for my mother prompted me to make a film in her honor.
MOSTLY MINIMALISTIC is the dream of a loving daughter, while also being a prototype for female filmmaking. As the Character Marlen, presented by one of the best German Actresses CORINNA HARFOUCH, she portrays the consequent decisions in a strong female creative cooperation between me and my Art Director Zazie Knepper. The colors are mostly Red, on the opposite the lack of colors for Fynn. The Look. Marlen’s flat as an own Individuum, all this gives us a sense of luscious femininity.
I myself believe in Cinema as a colorful and fantastic way to stimulate the inner soul of the heart.
I think that Film and Art can benefit personal growth in a much greater way than just receiving direct information. Don’t we all have a film that deeply touched and changed our life....?
I showed the film to a selected audience while it was in the process of editing. We found out that MOSTLY MINIMALISTIC made the audience feel good, but also stimulates a deeper discussion about our consumer behavior and our relationship with things that are meaningful to us. Having an audience coming out of the cinema with a positive impression, yet still in discussion - what more can you want?
