MONSTR
A gay vegan vampire discovers that he has the unique ability to temporarily cure others of their mental illnesses - taking their issues on himself by literally sucking them out... through their dicks.
In a world where all queer people are actual monsters, virginal vampire Elliot finds himself overly-attached to his first hook up - a werewolf named Kevin - and as their bodies become more and more fused together, Elliot actually can't let go.

Tanner Sean Hayes (he/they) was voted Most Unique in high school - and it was definitely because he was the token queer.
Yielding from a small town in western New Jersey, Tanner is constantly explaining that it is nothing like The Sopranos there, or even Jersey Shore... it was the country — and Tanner would often get stuck behind a tractor on his way to school. Growing up, Tanner and his mom would walk, or take the bus everywhere — it was great exercise (also they didn’t have a car, because they were poor ☺)!
Like any self-respecting tri-state gay, Tanner moved to New York City as soon as he possibly could. There, Tanner studied Writing for Television at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (on scholarship, of course). While in school, Tanner worked in a special education classroom in the NYC public school system, while simultaneously interning for Penguin Random House, Marvel Comics, and Adult Swim’s The Heart, She Holler.
After graduating from NYU at the age of twenty, Tanner decided that one reckless financial decision before he could legally drink was not enough, and flew immediately to Los Angeles without ever having been further west than Ohio (where he was born - but we don’t have to talk about that).
In Los Angeles, Tanner landed a job in the development department of DreamWorks Animation Television, where he grew into a Junior Development Executive, before realizing that it was probably time he stop playing it safe, and actually do the thing he moved to LA to do - pursue television writing. These days, Tanner works as a freelance writer, producer, and actor.
Through the Outfest Screenwriting Lab, I would love to take my script — MONSTR — from its current iteration, to reach its full potential.
This script is my passion project. It is the thing that I know that I have to — and will make — the thing that will be my ultimate artists’ statement. I would love to be able to participate in the lab to receive the guidance, insight, and mentorship needed to produce my project.
I have been working on this project for a few years, and have recently started to develop it as an animated series which I can produce myself independently. I would love to have your mentors’ direction in my completion of this journey.
Since leaving DreamWorks, I have experienced tons of ups-and-downs. I aspire to find myself in a project like the Outfest Screenwriting Lab with structure and direction. I have always made my own way — when I set out as the first person in my family to attend a four-year college; when I moved to LA and found my own way into a job without any connections... and now, as I continue my career as a creator.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Cheers to my queers xx.
