Welcome to the fourth biennial MODE Fest, celebrating the work of students and emerging motion designers who are creating some of the most interesting, imaginative, and well-crafted motion design work today.
MODE Fest invites students, recent grads, and institutions to submit their best student motion work across several different categories. All submissions will be reviewed by renowned industry professionals and respected academics. Finalists will be screened at MODE Fest, as well as included on MODE Fest's ongoing Vimeo channel. Monetary prizes for each category will be awarded live at the event including the coveted "Best in Show."
Entries tackling social, political, and climate issues will be given special consideration. Following several years of global turmoil that included a pandemic, civil unrest, violence and the wide-spread effects of climate change, MODE is looking forward to a festival that will reframe our perspective in 2023 and beyond.
Submission to the festival also gets each student all access to the corresponding Motion Design Education Summit, 8–10 June 2023, at Moore College of Art and Design, Philadelphia, PA, USA.
MODE Summit is a 3-day event bringing together educators from different areas of expertise to present work and discuss motion design and how it enhances, effects, changes messages, meaning, and communication. Motion design is a shifting and evolving sphere—it encompasses a broad range of related fields: human computer interaction, design, journalism, film, television, animation, art, dance, theater, and more.
