Director Statement

METROS is a short experimental horror film born from a simple question: how can an independent filmmaker explore cinematic visions that would normally require large budgets?

As an author working outside traditional production systems, I have always been interested in atmosphere, visual storytelling, and the language of classic horror cinema—especially the Italian genre films that shaped my imagination.

Artificial Intelligence, in this project, was not used as a replacement for filmmaking, but as a creative tool. My goal was not to generate spectacular images, but to maintain a cinematic approach to direction: controlled compositions, deliberate pacing, and a sense of visual narrative similar to what I would pursue in a traditional production.

One aspect I am particularly proud of is that METROS was created almost entirely using a single tool, often in its free version. The process was based on experimentation, patience, and many iterations rather than large technological resources.

The film is also a personal tribute to the atmosphere and spirit of 1980s European horror cinema. Without revealing too much of the story, METROS explores the idea that some forms of evil are never truly destroyed—only buried, waiting to resurface.

This project represents the beginning of a new creative path for me: integrating traditional filmmaking with emerging technologies, while keeping the director’s vision at the center of the process.
