MENYANET
Zhenya is a simple blue-collar worker whose daily routine involves fixing leaking pipes and old faucets. One evening, a work order finds Zhenya at the workshop of two young performance artists. The routine replacement of a sink drain turns into a surreal spectacle. He finds himself pulled into what is either a pointless experiment or a veiled conflict between the young artists. Should he run away in fear, or risk staying? Either way, Zhenya will remember this evening for the rest of his life -- if, of course, the evening ends for him...

My name is Nikolay Kobzev. I am 33 years old, I am director and screenwriter.
Born and raised in Moscow. I studied design at the Moscow Art and Industry Institute. I used to work as an interior designer, 3D graphic artist and architect. Then I studied director of photography at Mosfilm and started working in the production of media content of various formats. Among my projects there are clips, commercials, immersive shows, fashion shows, YouTube show and live broadcasts.
Menyanet is my debut short film.
MENYANET is a story about the rejection of reality. Not an empty protest, but a conscious struggle against the established foundations of society. This movie is an attempt to show not only the beauty and splendor of the destruction of borders, but also its boundless horror.
MENYANET is a personal story. This is an attempt to carefully recreate the environment where I got the opportunity to make a choice. A dangerous choice between which frameworks I want to preserve and which ones it is time to destroy. A dangerous but necessary choice. And only in the language of cinema can I reverently collect a portrait of my generation, and let the viewer breathe the same air and stand in the same alley. And to ask the question why did we have to make this choice at all?
