1917 Bishop Mason is invited to the White House by President Wilson. This lively conversation leads to Mason and other followers being approved by the War Department as conscious objector. The courageous African American leader is, however, later falsely charged with treason by the FBI Director. The movie charts this dramatic history, highlighting Bishop Mason’s visionary leadership and courage, and the issues of religious freedom, racism, and government overreach. The goals of this film include encouraging faith-based audiences, and moving the hearts and minds of non-religious audiences by engaging issues of social justice, racial equality, and advocating the civil liberties established by America’s founders.
