MARATEALE, presieduta da Antonella Caramia e diretta da Nicola Timpone, nasce in seno all’Associazione Cinema del
Mediterraneo, creata nel 2014, che da sempre, promuove, organizza e produce eventi legati alla cultura, al cinema, alla
sostenibilità e alle tematiche legate all’ambiente, e al ricco territorio della Basilicata. Il cinema, l’audiovisivo, la
formazione sono al centro delle attività di MARATEALE che propone un programma denso di eventi, ospiti nazionali e
internazionali che interloquiscono con il pubblico, i giovani e gli addetti ai lavori. Una settimana di programmazione con
titoli in anteprima, eventi, master class e incontri con gli autori per approfondire le numerose tematiche che attraversano
un film, un personaggio, un’idea.
MARATEALE non è solo un Festival, ma molto di più. Nel corso delle edizioni è diventato un importante punto di riferimento
per giovani appassionati di cinema, per artisti e professionisti del cinema e dell’audiovisivo, con un’attenzione particolare
nei confronti di autori della Basilicata. Ma è diventato anche networking per produttori e addetti ai lavori che durante la
manifestazione approfondiscono e condividono idee e opinioni, dando vita a vere e proprie “giornate industry”.

MARATEALE, chaired by Antonella Caramia and directed by Nicola Timpone, was founded within the Mediterranean Cinema Association, created in 2014, which has always promoted, organized and produced events related to culture, cinema, sustainability, environmental issues, and the rich territory of Basilicata.
Cinema, audiovisual and education are at the heart of the activities of MARATEALE which offers a program full of events, national and international guests who interact with the public, young people and professionals. A week of programming with previews, events, masterclasses and meetings with the authors to deepen the many themes that run through a film, a character, an idea.
MARATEALE is not only a Festival, but much more. During the editions it has become an important reference for young film lovers, for artists and professionals of cinema and audiovisual, with a particular attention to the authors of Basilicata. But it has also become networking for producers and professionals who during the event explore and share ideas and opinions, creating real "industry days".

Awards & Prizes

Il programma del Festival si articola attorno a differenti sezioni volte a delineare figure della cinematografia italiana e internazionale. Film, cortometraggi e documentari, rappresentano un percorso di ricerca di temi e di nuovi linguaggi audiovisivi.
Sempre attenta e sensibile ai giovani e ai temi a loro fortemente legati, Marateale promuove sia il cinema green, sia proiezioni dedicate alle scuole del territorio con programmazione ad hoc, sia i nuovi autori della Basilicata.
Marateale in Green presenta, in concorso, lungometraggi internazionali di fiction, film documentari e film di animazione, legati ai temi ambientali e della sostenibilità. Mai come ora la riflessione sui cambiamenti climatici, sulla sostenibilità ambientale diventa protagonista di molte storie filmiche. La selezione è focalizzata su opere che narrano storie e visioni utili a far riflettere sui temi del concorso, argomenti molto sensibili in un momento storico in cui emerge la grande necessità di maggiore consapevolezza.
Le pellicole sono giudicate da una giuria di esperti e concorrono al Premio Marateale Green Award.
Al Festival sono presenti gli autori, attori e produttori delle singole opere.

The program of the Festival is structured around different sections aimed at outlining figures of Italian and international cinema. Films, short films and documentaries represent a research path of themes and new audiovisual languages.
Always focused and sensitive to young people and to the themes strongly linked to them, Marateale promotes both green cinema, both screenings dedicated to local schools with specific programming, and new authors of Basilicata.
Marateale in Green presents, in competition, international feature films of fiction, documentary films and animated films, related to environmental issues and sustainability. Never before has reflection on climate change and environmental sustainability become the protagonist of many film stories. The selection is focused on works that tell stories and visions useful to reflect on the themes of the competition, very sensitive topics in an historical moment when the great need for greater awareness emerges.
The films are judged by a jury of experts and compete for the Marateale Green Award.
The authors, actors and producers of the individual works are present at the festival.

Rules & Terms

1. ORGANIZZATORI E PROMOTORI
La MARATEALE è organizzata dall’Associazione Cinema Mediterraneo (https://www.marateale.com) e si
terrà nell’anfiteatro del prestigioso Santavenere Hotel e in altri luoghi di Maratea.

2. MARATEALE IN GREEN - CRITERI DI ELIGGIBILTÀ
Marateale in Green è una nuova sezione del Festival Marateale che promuove la sostenibilità ambientale in
conformità con gli obbiettivi posti nell’Agenda per lo sviluppo sostenibile 2030 delle Nazioni Unite.
Dieci lungometraggi con tematica ambientale (animazione, documentari, fiction) verranno selezionati per
partecipare al concorso MARATEALE IN GREEN.
Tutte le opere presentate devono essere di produzione recente, terminate non prima del 1° gennaio, 2019.

Il Marateale si svolgerà a Maratea (Pz) dal 25-29 luglio 2023

3. GIURIA
La direzione del Festival nominerà una Giuria composta da personalità del mondo del Cinema e dell’Arte.

4. LEGGITTIMO RAPPRESENTANTE :
Colui che iscrive il film assume la responsabilità di essere il legittimo rappresentante autorizzato da tutti gli
aventi diritto sull’opera. La dichiarazione resa dal soggetto che ha sottoscritto la scheda di iscrizione
esonera quindi l’Associazione Cinema Mediterraneo dalla verifica della legittimazione dello stesso a
iscrivere il film che si intenderà infatti come accertata, esimendola da ogni relativa responsabilità.

5. REGISTRAZIONE
Il concorso prevede l’ammissione alla selezione di opere nazionali ed internazionali prodotte dopo
1/1/2019 e realizzate con qualsiasi supporto che trattino di tematiche ambientali, inedite in Italia. La
registrazione dei film alla sezione MARATEALE IN GREEN può essere fatta scaricando la scheda dal sito
https://www.marateale.com e inviandola in formato word all’indirizzo: maratealegreen@gmail.com, entro
e non oltre il 15/6/2023. È indispensabile che l’invio del film tramite link vimeo o qualsiasi altra forma di
invio digitale abbia una password valida fino al 31/7/2023
La data limite per l’invio delle registrazioni è il 15/6/2023.
In alternativa è possibile spedire un DVD, Blu-ray o DCP all’indirizzo:

La ricezione del dvd deve altresì avvenire entro il 15/6/2023.

I film in preselezione devono essere senza sottotitoli se la versione originale è in italiano; con i sottotitoli in
inglese o in italiano se la versione originale del film è in una lingua diversa.

6. FILM SELEZIONATI
La selezione ufficiale dei film verrà annunciata entro il 1/7/2023. Successivamente, i distributori
internazionali e/o produttori dovranno inviare entro il 8/7/2023 il seguente materiale: poster, brochure,
cartella stampa, sinossi, DCP (file ad alta risoluzione via email).

7. OSPITALITA’
L’organizzazione offrirà vitto e alloggio ad un massimo di due persone per la presentazione dei film
selezionati per la sezione MARATEALE IN GREEN. Verranno privilegiati i registi e gli attori protagonisti.

8. PREMI
La sezione MARATEALE IN GREEN consegnerà il premio Champion of Sea and Earth (Per l’impegno verso
l’ambiente e la sostenibilità).

9. NORME GENERALI
La registrazione di un film alla sezione implica l’accettazione totale e incondizionata del presente
regolamento.
L’accettazione di partecipare al concorso e l’invio dei materiali, implica l’autorizzazione, non in esclusiva,
agli organizzatori del festival a diffondere e mettere a disposizione del pubblico - attraverso il proprio sito e
con ogni altro mezzo o altra forma conosciuta alcune sequenze delle opere presentate (max 20 sec.), senza
pretendere alcun compenso per gli autori delle stesse. L’invio di materiale fotografico e/o informativo (foto
di scena, foto dell’autore, bio e filmografia, sinossi del film, dichiarazione dell’autore, poster...) inerenti al
film implica, altresì, l’autorizzazione non in esclusiva agli organizzatori del Festival a diffondere e a mettere
a disposizione del pubblico – attraverso la pubblicazione sul catalogo e sul sito ufficiale del Festival e con
ogni altro mezzo o altra forma conosciuta - immagini e informazioni inerenti alle opere presentate.
Le delibere relative alle premiazioni delle opere sono insindacabili.
Il presente regolamento è redatto in italiano e inglese. In caso di problemi interpretativi, fa fede la versione
italiana.

1. ORGANISERS AND PROMOTERS. The MARATEALE is organized by the Mediterranean Cinema Association (https://www.marateale.com) and will be held in the amphitheater of the prestigious Santavenere Hotel and other places of Maratea.

2. MARATEALE IN GREEN - ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA. Marateale in Green is a new section of the Marateale Festival that promotes environmental sustainability in compliance with the objectives set out in the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Agenda. Ten feature films with environmental themes (animation, documentaries, fiction) will be selected to participate in the competition MARATEALE IN GREEN. All submitted works must be of recent production, completed not before 1 January, 2019.
PLACE - DATE. Marateale will take place in Maratea (Pz) from 25-29 July 2023.

3. JURY. The direction of the Festival will appoint a Jury composed of personalities from the world of Cinema and Art.

4. LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE :. The person who registers the film assumes the responsibility of being the legitimate representative authorized by all entitled to the work. The statement made by the person who signed the registration form. therefore exempts the Mediterranean Cinema Association from the verification of the legitimacy of the same to register the film that will in fact be understood as ascertained, exempting it from any relative responsibility.

5. REGISTRATION. The competition provides admission to the selection of national and international works produced after. 1/1/2019 and realized with any support dealing with environmental issues, unpublished in Italy. The registration of the films to the section MARATEALE IN GREEN can be made by downloading the card from the site (https://www.marateale.com) and sending it in word format to the address: maratealegreen@gmail.com, within. and no later than 15/6/2023. It is imperative that the sending of the film via vimeo link or any other form of. have a password valid until 7/31/2023. The deadline for sending recordings is 15/6/2023. Alternatively, you can send a DVD, Blu-ray or DCP to: Associazione Cinema Mediterraneo - Piazza Duca Degli Abruzzi, 9 - 85042, Lagonegro (PZ). The dvd must also be received by 15/6/2023. Pre-selection films must be without subtitles if the original version is in Italian; with subtitles in English or Italian if the original version of the film is in a different language.

6. SELECTED FILMS. The official selection of films will be announced by 1/7/2023. Subsequently, distributors international and/or manufacturers must send by 8/7/2023 the following material: posters, brochures, press kit, synopsis, DCP (high resolution file via email).

7. HOSPITALITY. The organization will offer room and board to a maximum of two people for the presentation of films selected for the section MARATEALE IN GREEN. Will be privileged directors and actors protagonists.

8. AWARDS. The section MARATEALE IN GREEN will award the prize Champion of Sea and Earth (For commitment to the environment and sustainability).

9. GENERAL RULES. The registration of a film in the section implies the total and unconditional acceptance of this regulation. The acceptance to participate in the contest and the sending of the materials, implies the authorization, not exclusively. to the organizers of the festival to disseminate and make available to the public - through their own site and. by any other means or other known form some sequences of the presented works (max 20 sec.), without. claim any compensation. The sending of photographic and/or informational material (backstage photo, author’s photo, bio and filmography, film synopsis, author’s statement, poster...) related to the film implies the authorization not exclusively to the organizers of the Festival to disseminate and to place publicly available – through the publication on the catalogue and on the official website of the Festival and with any other means or other known form - images and information related to the submitted works. The decisions relating to the awards are final. This regulation is drafted in Italian and English. In case of interpretive problems, the Italian version is authentic.
