MANIpulation
We live in a time where we try as much as possible to be similar to others rather than express ourselves as we really are. There is a constant fear of being excluded because "different".
MANIpulation is an encouragement, especially to young people, not to hesitate to expose yourself just because "others" may not agree or do not have the same taste. The masks that accompany the protagonist represent the constant judgment that we receive from society, which most of the time wants all of us being homologated just because sometimes it is enough to have a slight difference that distinguishes us to be criticized. The main character starts a consciousness journey that makes her realize that it is just her own self who sets certain limits that lead her to pretend to be someone else to please people around her instead of just being herself. By gradually making each mask vanish, she manages to become more independent and to finally be free to think with her own mind, ceasing to be a puppet of the imaginary judges. The blonde girl and the dream represent the courage that makes the protagonist realize that she is the only one who can take her mask off in order to be finally herself. We also notice this development from an aesthetic point of view: the girl switches from using very strong to light makeup to show her genuine face and at the end she wears more basic clothes than on the first day.
