John Edwards was raised on the mediterranean island of Malta. Where he attended a small international school that was a melting pot of cultures from all over the world. After graduating high school in Malta, he travelled to the UK, where he fell in love with Theatre. It is here where he found his true desire to create. At the age of 20, he moved back to his birth place of Canada. He attended the Methodica Acting School, and moved to Toronto to begin starring in a series of commercials and television shows including, HBO’s "The Transporter", "Nikita" & "Beauty and the Beast". Most recently he has been working behind the camera as Best Boy, on the major Hollywood productions, "Deadpool 2", "The 100" and the NETFLIX original series "Made", produced by Margot Robbie. John currently resides in Vancouver, with his wife and two boys.
The inspiration for this short film came from a trip to the Colombian Amazon. My second child was not yet of this world, but I saw him in a dream. My wife stood upon the shore of the Amazonian River and I could see a child’s face on her belly. The vision was so striking. A woman, the portal from Soul to Earth stood on a lush backdrop of Jungle. Time spent with a Shaman reinforced a view I always had as a child; how ill equipped we are to survive in our own birthplace. Most of mankind simply lacks the education and experience, the connection. This short film takes place around one single monologue where the disenfranchised Human is confronted with the need to survive in a world she does not know, and ultimately realizes that nature provides. Mama is all around us. I hope you enjoy this love story to our Mothers', and the greatest one of all; Mother Earth.
