In Santiago de Chile, different social actors were strongly repressed by local authorities during the "Social Outbreak" that began in October 2019 in
the whole country. Statistically, human rights were highly violated, but still people had taken the streets around what is now called, Plaza Dignidad, located in the heart of the Capital.

ALVARO GAUNA

Filmmaker and co- founder of Viraje Films. Producer, director, screenwriter, photography director in "Kadima, the contained time” (2022). Producer and director of the documentary short film “ABRAN PASO” (FIDOCS 2019, “Files in process” section, Red Film Festivals of Chile and Indigenous Peoples REDFECI, Altered Territories Window) and participation in the World Cinema Amsterdam, Chile Focus.

Director Statement

The main motivation for making this short film was to show the contingency in Chile, at a time of social outbreak with repeated violations of human rights by the state apparatus. On the other hand, show the organization on the part of first aid volunteers, which show the magnitude of these circumstances
