MIA'S CHILD

After her third miscarriage, Mia Evans avoids grieving by accepting a work assignment to help fund an orphanage in India. Her mission is cut short when a massive earthquake hits, causing vast devastation and cutting off all means of communication. Dan Evans, Mia’s husband and a firefighter, is forced to give up a long-awaited opportunity to adopt when he sets off to find Mia. Broken-hearted, he joins his military sidekick, Mateo, who gets deployed to India on an earthquake rescue operation.

Unbeknownst to Dan, Mia’s life is spared. She bonds with a medical missionary couple from Norway, Elka and Renu, who on their way to the base, discover it has been ransacked by Hindu extremists. Menacing mudslides pushes everyone at the orphanage to embark on a perilous journey to a monastery in the mountains for shelter. They all flee to the same monastery.

As Mia and her newfound friends journey toward the mountains, Mia is traumatized as she witnesses a horrific scene of two Kuki Christian women being paraded naked and shamed by a group of men.

Mia finally reaches the monastery where food is now scarce. She bonds with a lovable little orphan boy named Kadhir, who she later finds out was rescued from human trafficking.

A violent mob of Hindu extremists break into the monastery, disrupting the peace. While the nuns bravely place everyone in hiding, the mob steals their food, destroys the chapel and savagely beat the Mother Superior. Once the men are gone, everyone is forced to flee yet again. While on the road, they come across a barricade guarded by the very same mob. They manage to escape by the skin of their teeth.

Mia manages to reach her boss, Bill, the CEO of Preston Oil Corporation, unveiling the reality of Kadhir’s story. This compels Bill to bring aid to the orphanage and take corporate action against human trafficking.

In a sea of emotions, Mia and Dan miraculously reunite. Mia longs to adopt Kadhir but complicated policy issues prevent her from doing so. She parts with Kadhir.

Back home, Mia and Dan decide to foster children. In a surprising turn of events and to their ultimate joy, they can finally adopt Kadhir.

Writing faith-based stories to be seen on screen are for me the best way to give hope to a hopeless world and let them know about a God that loves them deeply.
