Director Biography - Cory Aycock

I grew up on a cotton farm in Northwest Texas and played a lot of sports (particularly basketball) . It wasn't until college in my early 20's that I realized I had a love for film.
Mulholland Drive and Pulp Fiction were the first two films I really researched and tried to figure out the reasons behind why the Filmmakers did what they did.
I dropped out of college and worked construction for a year to save money before moving to Los Angeles in 2007 to pursue acting. I got my SAG-AFTRA card within the first 6 months after appearing on the network shows "Life" and "NCIS", and then the Clint Eastwood film, "The Changeling".
Some time passed and I had a commercial agent and was auditioning often, but soon realized this is not what I wanted to do, so I bought a Canon 7D DSLR and immediately began making my own shorts.
Since then I have upgraded equipment and have consistently self-produced and self-financed over 15 projects, often working as the Director, Writer, Lead Actor, Casting Director and Editor....as well as mapping out all the shots prior for the camera operator.
I continue to learn and am always working on something new.

Director Statement

I love filmmaking and self-finance all my projects. I try to create the best projects I can with a small crew and available locations to remain autonomous. I want to create thoughtful, poetic films similar to other great filmmakers that have given so much to me.
