Experiencing Interruptions?

Ly-Ling and Mr Urgesi

Despite mutual respect for one another and a commitment to joining forces in a common business venture, the difficulties of working together bring fashion designer Ly-Ling (36) and bespoke tailor Cosimo (73) to their limits. Cosimo has worked for decades according to strict rules, which clashes with Ly-Ling’s intuitive, inspired designs. They are locked in a conflict between two generations, two cultures, and two worlds – but united by a common passion.

Director Statement

Having spent my first years in Italy before moving to Switzerland, I grew up with a sensibility for immigration, especially Italian immigration. My protagonists both have an immigrant background and are representatives of two different generations of successful integration. I believe it is that particular experience they have in common which has helped the two of them to start something completely new together and stay focused on their vision despite growing conflicts.
I met Ly-Ling in 2013 when I portrayed her for a design fair. Three years later, she told me by the way about her collaboration with the last Swiss bespoke tailor she was about to start. I new right away that this was going to be a film. That was in April 2016. I was there from the beginning and lucky enough to be allowed to follow the two of them during the first 15 months of their collaboration.
