Luke 14:12-13
Luke 14:12-13 explores the issues of homelessness, poverty, and addiction from the Franciscan perspective by highlighting the work of St. Francis Inn, a large-scale soup kitchen which serves over 200 people a day in Kensington, Pennsylvania.
The film illustrates the reality of Kensington. The neighborhood is notorious for it's rampant drug use, homelessness, prostitution, crime, and poverty and is considered to be one of the worst drug hotspots in the nation.

Robin Stone is a filmmaker from Rochester, New York. He is a Video Production student at St. Bonaventure University in the southern tier of New York. He has written and directed short films and has produced a short documentary.
I have been to Kensington, Philadelphia a number of times on volunteering trips, witnessing firsthand the realities of poverty and addiction.
My experiences at the St. Francis Inn have changed my perspective on these pressing issues. Because the Inn is rooted in the values of Franciscan Catholicism, I wanted to address the vulnerable and sensitive issues through the Franciscan perspective to offer better insight into how and why the Inn operates the way it does. I hope to inspire compassion and understanding for those in need and to reveal how connected we all are, regardless of circumstance and to juxtapose the light of grace with the sometimes seemingly insurmountable darkness of reality.
