LUCIA
Lucía, aged 23, lives isolated from society, confined to her apartment with Camila as her only companion. She turns to Camila in search of answers about the origin of an affliction that only she can see, one that torments her with memories of her past, traumas, and family. Surrounded by paintings, Lucía strives not to lose herself in the chaos of her mind but to rediscover her true self.

Isabela Bonilla and Amari Grunauer
Isabela, born in Ecuador, and Amari, born in Chile, are two young directors and writers, both just 18 years old. They make their film debut by writing and directing the short film Lucía. At such a young age, they have become the youngest filmmakers to win the competitive film production grant awarded by the Ecuadorian Film Institute (IFCI). In 2024, they were selected to be part of Input Youth and the Pichincha Cultural Industries Market (MICPI). Currently, they are writing their first feature, El lado oscuro de Camila, alongside the production company Toquilla Films.
"Lucía" is a psychological thriller that narrates through metaphors the importance of mental health, and above all, what happens when it is neglected and minimized.
The story depicts a child's transition to adulthood, a ected by familial abandon ment due to her condition, schizophrenia, which leaves her feeling trapped and alone. It is a story about fears, such as facing changes when you are young and unable to understand the things around you, especially during the growing-up tage. We aim to reach as many people as possible because we believe that mental health needs to stop being a myth. We also seek to ensure that more women and new talents nd their voice in the lm industry
