Experiencing Interruptions?

Luca + Silvana

Luca and Silvana are in love: pizza with friends, movies on Sunday, seaside holidays with Silvana’s relatives and, as so often happens to people in love – even those who, like them, have Down Syndrome – they want to marry and lives together. Luca has no parents, he is alone. Because of that there are many bureaucratic obstacles to overcome. Every year the date of the marriage is postponed.
Perhaps their desire for an independent life together will remain just a dream.

Director Statement

Luca+Silvana deals with delicate, if not dramatic issues. My cinematic instinct leads me therefore
to imagine a documentary in light undertones. And because I am convinced that delicate matters
must be treated lightly. By lightly I mean being able to smile and bring a smile when faced with
situations that are often experienced or perceived as a tragedy.
