Del Potter is an African American TV drama writer who was raised in a Paterson, New Jersey neighborhood with drug dealers and addicts who served as antagonists in his life. These antagonists also served as inspiration for Del’s introduction into storytelling.
Del worked with NBA players in scouting for ten years. Being around the egos, tempers, and secrets, Del’s writing voice became more urgent, gritty, and sharp; his characters’ flawed, relatable, and often hiding in plain sight.
After working in the NBA, Del went on to complete the UCLA TV Writer’s Program. Del regularly places in contests and fellowships. Most recently, he was a semifinalist in the 2021 Screencraft Fellowship, and made it to the second round of the 2020 Sundance Episodic Lab.
My passion is to create stories and characters that make you feel and remember, a mission I keep in mind every time I open Final Draft.
