Daniela Shuping is the director of SCAD Senior Capstone Film "Love at First Light." In addition, she has worked as a story artist on the SCAD Animation Studios project, "The How Book." Daniela has a deep love for storytelling and has always admired the versatility and beauty of animation as a medium. Daniela's goal as an artist is to spark joy and wonder in the world, and to create stories that make people feel a little bit warmer, inside.
The base premise from which of "Love at First Light" originated centers around the idea of a firefly falling in love with a lighthouse. Fireflies court one another through blinking their lights; lighthouses appear to blink from far away. Everything else spiraled out from there. The film aims to evoke a childlike sense of wonderment and magic, and explores the theme of knowing one's own truth. I had the joy of working with such a wonderful, talented crew, and I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish together.
