Love and Trembling is an intimate portrait of a woman, Paola Murillo, who suffers from distinct physical and genetic conditions. These peculiarities make her stand out as a member of a large group, those who suffer from the same conditions. During the project’s drafting stage, one of the key motivations to tell the story arose from an absent space in domestic cinema: the low visibility of people who suffer from HPS' albinism (Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome). These peculiarities are not a characteristic foreign to the film’s dramatic essence; Paola’s psychological construction and conflict feed from this characteristic in the same manner as the film feeds from her medical and genetic condition. But the film is not only that. The story is a sincere effort to free her from that label, to portray her intimacy, her feeling of alienation from the world, her humanity, and most of all, to redeem her condition as a woman.
