The Love Your Shorts Film Festival celebrates short films in Sanford, Florida (located just twenty minutes north of Orlando).

We screen only short films under 30 minutes in length. Films are divided into different blocks for screening and the audience votes for their favorites.

The winning films from each block advance to a final block for a panel of judges to pick the overall festival winner. Winners of each block earn the festival's award, the "Monroe," an original piece of metal artwork named after Sanford's Lake Monroe.

At the end of each block a brief Q&A session is conducted between the filmmakers and audience members.

During the weekend LYSFF also hosts:
- Education Day, designed for seasoned and amateur filmmakers
- Opening Night Party exclusive to filmmakers and sponsors
- Filmmakers Panel
- Sunday Filmmakers Brunch
- After Party at one of Central Florida's best craft cocktail bars

To support, promote and recognize the art of short film and its artists.

The Love Your Shorts Film Festival will be one of the preeminent short film festivals in the world. As the art of short film changes, the festival will adapt with it. We will be known for treating our visiting filmmakers with the highest level of hospitality. The festival will be a platform where film lovers and filmmakers can socialize and collaborate. We will be a respected member within the local creative arts community.

The winner of each competition block will receive a cash prize of $400 and our prized accolade called the "Monroe," which is an original piece of metal artwork.

Four Monroe awards will be given for Best Directing, Best Screenplay, Best Scene, Best Cinematography and Best Actor/Actress.

The Best of the Fest winner will receive a Monroe award and a cash prize of $1,500.

Love Your Shorts was one of my favorite festivals to attend. The incredible hospitality of the festival committee and Sanford, Florida spreads to the filmmaking community who attend. Filmmakers feel engaged, connected, embraced, appreciated. I made friends. I got great feedback. I had fun. I watched great films. It's kinda everything I ever dreamed a festival could be. Thank, Love Your Shorts! (filmmakers? Submit! You'll love it!)

Love Your Shorts is a great time all around. Great films, a mix of new and veteran filmmakers, a single screen so that every experience is shared, a filmmaker's lounge and party and panel and plenty of other opportunities for conversation, just a great weekend for filmmakers and film fans. 2018 was my first time at the festival but I certainly hope to be back. A real gem!

I have been submitting my films to this festival since 2012. The Love Your Shorts film festival organizers personally go out of their way to help filmmakers feel truly appreciated for their hard work and dedication. The festival is held in the beautiful quaint town of Sanford Florida, which is in walking distance to some really wonderful restaurants. The best part of the festival is that they screen every single film in the beautifully renovated 1920's historic Wayne Densch theater. This helps to create a wonderful community in the festival where everyone gets to experience the films together instead of running to several small theaters like most other film festivals. The Love Your Shorts Film Festival is truly a gem and a must see!

I traveled all the way from Oklahoma to Florida for the Love Your Shorts Film Festival, and would do it again in a heartbeat! This festival is amazing! The professionalism and hospitality of the entire Love Your Shorts Team was a breath of fresh air. They really cater to the filmmakers who visit and make you feel special. I would encourage more filmmakers to attend this festival. The community of Sanford, Florida is so supportive of the film festival and arts in their area, and it's wonderful and inspiring to be around. You are guaranteed an audience of people who love films seeing your work, and the interactive voting at the end of each programming block is fun and offers immediate feedback on your film. Additionally, the programming of this festival is strong. I saw almost every block of films, and I never questioned once why a film was in the festival because they are all just that good - even if one doesn't particularly resonate with you. I would attend this festival again even without a film, and highly highly recommend it.
