Director Biography

Erin formed Smithy Productions, a production company, with the aim to house various talents from the queer/ independent art community under the umbrella of narrative/ documentary storytelling.

An educator who prothletizes "just keep making films", Erin wears many hats, focusing on writing and directing, verite camera work, and editing for music videos, film/tv and any projects which prioritize story over style.

Erin Greenwell directed her feature film "My Best Day" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Other directing includes "Oh Come On", a punk DIY performance video for The Julie Ruin and co-directing "The Golden Age of Hustlers" featuring Justin Vivian Bond's remake of an iconic song written by legendary punk chanteuse Bambi Lake.

Editing work includes Yomeddine, a feature film narrative with its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2018 and submitted by Egypt for consideration of Best International Film for the 91st Academy Awards.

This is Erin's first animated short, she hopes there will be many more.

Director Statement

I have always wanted to make a music video for Loup Garou. Animation seemed the best way to illuminate the comedy and beauty of this song by Mary Crosbie. I want Loup Garouto play at drive-ins, gastropubs, roof tops, parking lots, before midnight features and so forth. I very much hope it finds a home to thrill seeking, in-person movie goers.
