Loud Silence

Loud Silence is a documentary/fiction hybrid film that literally puts you inside the directors head, living his reality since the moment he discovered having tinnitus. You will experience how it is to have tinnitus. The film will recreate his experiences through a narrative structure and will show his journey of making the film.

The fiction film breaks into a meta-layer where the director and the actor have intimate conversations about how the first weeks really were. This gives the film a small and honest feeling. The film is made with a crew from all over Europ what gave the film the feeling of the confraternity.

Director Statement

With this film, I want to raise awareness to a growing problem in our modern society: hearing loss and tinnitus. I am especially
concerned about both my generation and all those following since
we’re exposed to greater levels of loud environments and portable
music devices than ever. We crank up the volume, and we listen for
longer. A bad cocktail. Before I hurt my ears, I thought tinnitus was
only something old musicians got after many years of playing loud
music. I wish I had known better. I wish I had just worn earplugs
and taken care of my hearing. The reality is that it’s easy to protect
your ears. Yet, a lot of people don’t.

The film uses sound and visuals to immerse the audience into the
world of tinnitus. I want the audience to feel that they have tinnitus, just for the 12 minutes of the film.
