迷失在婚姻市场
The project explores the topic that has always surrounded
young Chinese people - marriage. By filming the parents in the matchmaking corner in Hangzhou and interviewing them about their views on marriage. It confronts the social reality and considers the value of women and the meaning of marriage in the present day. In the context of Chinese society, the conflict between two generations' concepts of marriage, the unequal status of men and women, and the conflict between parents and their children. It made me start to think about how to respond as a group that will face such problems soon?

Graduated with a Masters in Pure Arts Photography from the University of the Arts London.
At the undergraduate stage, my creation is more inclined to documentary photography. Focusing the camera towards the society, friends and relatives, and myself. At this period of time, I have started to study the authenticity of photography in the context of contemporary art, making secondary creations based on real photographs, and questioning the reality of existence with a semi-fictional narrative. At the same time, I am also exploring the relationship between printed materials and the authenticity of images.
In China's big cities there is a location dedicated to matchmaking, a microcosm of society. Come here, it's like a food market. Parents choose for their children who they think are suitable for marriage.
In the matchmaking corner, every young person is replaced by labels and numbers, decades of life are summarised in a few sentences on A4 paper, and everyone looks like a clearly priced commodity, placed on the ground, hung on trees and on their parents' sun umbrellas. Coming here also means that you need to be prepared to be chosen and compared.
