Tamara Scherbak has directed numerous short films such as
“Dedashka”, winner of Best Director at the Festiv’elles Film
Festival and “Only Sky & Water”, which screened in competition at
the Hot Docs Film Festival. Tamara was 1 of 9 filmmakers selected for
the Berlinale Talents Short Film Station and has also been selected as
a writer/director for prestigious Talent Labs such as at Toronto
International Film Festival, Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices Initiative and as filmmaker-in-residence at 33 Officina Creativa in Toffia, Italy.
“Lost Postcards” is her first ‘vertical' film.
A lot of my films have dark or heavy subject matter but with "Lost Postcards", made in two days total on a bit of whim, I wanted to make something more light and heart-warming on a topic very dear me, travelling. It was also a nice challenge to try the vertical filmmaking format and see how it affects story-telling choices.
