Christian Lee is an independent filmmaker, who writes, directs, produces, edits, shoots, and scores all of his short films. His focus as a storyteller is to shine a light on characters who aren’t often portrayed in film.
Lost Hope is a film I’ve been anticipating to make for a while. Although, I was hesitant because of its’ naturally difficult topic: teen suicide. I believe teen suicide is a huge problem in our society. The suicide rate for teenagers between the ages of ten and seventeen went up 70% between 2006 and 2016. And it still continues to be one of the main causes of death for Americans. I feel one of the first steps to solving this issue is by recognizing how dangerous and effective it truly is. Sometimes, we don’t pay much attention to all the problematic events unfolding around us and hence, become desensitized. That being said, my end goal is for this film to promote awareness concerning the topic of teen suicide and suicide in general by showcasing a tragic event, how it came to be, and the truly devastating effect it has on those involved for future prevention.
