Director Biography - Thalia Brunner

Thalia Brunner is a recent graduate of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.

"Losing Grip" is a short animated film that explores themes of greed and consequence, through humour set in a colourful environment. The mature undertones create a story that can be enjoyed and interpreted by a wide audience.

Thalia Brunner pitched the initial idea of a determined child trying to grasp a toy from a claw machine. The idea inspired from the frustratingly addictive arcade experience we’ve all had, formed a strong story with relatable viewer connection.

Animated films have always been enjoyable for a wide range of audiences by exploring deeper concepts within a fun, colourful world. They embrace certain situations where we’re transported back to childhood, with our determined spirits pushed to the limit. This nostalgia is explored through relatable experiences that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.
