Los Ángeles, California

Los Ángeles California is a short documentary that explores the relationship that today's attendees of Mexico City's dance halls have with these spaces. The focus is on Salón Los Ángeles and the California Dancing Club, the two oldest dance halls in the city. The documentary specifically centers on Martín, Silvia, Guadalupe, and Gaby—regular visitors to these places—and what these spaces mean to them.
The documentary addresses the rising cost of tickets. Gradually, it reveals the corners of these spaces that have suffered wear and tear over time and history. All these places are empty: tables and chairs facing the dance floor, the stage with speakers and unused cables, empty benches, and walls filled with photos and awards. To a certain extent, it feels like an abandoned place. Yet, these spaces start to fill with life when people arrive.
