Director Statement

My girlfriend Alysha & I have never done anything jointly creative in our 6 years together. We wanted to try something low stakes that we could stop doing when it stopped being fun. Fortunately -- it never stopped being fun.

In the Fall of 2023, we were headed to Chicago for our anniversary, and we were bringing along a mini-DV camcorder to document it. I thought "Hey, why don't we just make a movie?". So that's what we did. We cooked the concept in the weeks ahead, came up with some shots and a monologue, and winged it. Looking for Michael is the result of a lot of fun, a lot of love, and a lot of pumpkins. Like, probably an actual hour's worth of jack-o-lanterns.

Enjoy!
