Experiencing Interruptions?

Look from Below

In a world driven by indifference, 'Look From Below' is a poignant documentary filmed in Super Eight that unveils the lives of those often overlooked: the homeless, scavengers, and beggars. Through the nostalgic beauty of this classic format, we are invited to witness their daily actions, challenging situations, and, above all, their gazes filled with untold stories. This cinematic journey serves as a reminder that behind each gaze lies a wealth of experiences, and that beneath social invisibility, there exists humanity that deserves to be seen and understood

Director Statement

As a screenwriter and one of the directors, I conceived the nuances of the documentary out of my indignation towards the marginalization of the homeless population. Through reflections and research in documentaries, articles, and online videos, I sought to seize the opportunity of the international Super 8 film festival in Curitiba to get closer to this reality and gain at least some understanding of the perspective of these marginalized individuals.

I had the pleasure of being selected for the festival along with friends I made during the project's development. We received guidance on the use of film material and consultations for project development. About two days ago, we conducted the recordings in central and peripheral areas of Curitiba, where we met some individuals who contributed with their words, images, and stories.

This project was essential for my education and understanding of the world of cinematic creation, as it brought me closer and made me a part of this aesthetic and narrative, a human record.
