Look Up!

Looking up at the stars is a captivating and awe-inspiring experience that has fascinated humanity for millennia. When we gaze at the night sky, we are greeted with a tapestry of twinkling lights, each representing a distant sun, far beyond our planet Earth. The wonders of the stars have captured our imaginations, driving us to explore and understand the vast cosmos.

One of the most captivating wonders of the stars is their sheer number. On a clear night, away from light pollution, we can see thousands of stars with the naked eye. However, with telescopes and advanced astronomical instruments, we have discovered that there are billions of stars in our own galaxy, the Milky Way, and billions more galaxies throughout the observable universe. The sheer immensity of the cosmos is humbling and hard to comprehend.

Artist Biography

My name is Luis Miguel Lopez, and from a young age, I developed a passion for TV shows, particularly documentaries. I was captivated by the world around me, leading me to indulge in numerous nature programs. In the year 2000, I seized the opportunity to finance my college education and enrolled at the New England Institute of Technology to study video and radio production. Despite obtaining my degree, I spent a decade without utilizing it until I discovered the Lowell Telecommunication Center. This remarkable place not only allowed me to refresh my college knowledge but also exposed me to various community projects that contributed to my growth as a producer. Over the years, the Lowell Telecommunication Center has honored me with several awards, and in 2019 I was a finalist at the Massachusetts Creator Awards from MassAcess for Gill Knows which is an animation show for the LPS Media outlets.
In 2010, I embarked on a new journey with LPS Media, the educational channel for the Lawrence Public School District in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Within this role, I oversee the production of high school sports TV and streaming content, along with fine arts performances. Additionally, I have the pleasure of collaborating with students from elementary and middle schools. One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is creating original content from inception to completion, receiving invaluable support from my colleagues. Presently, I have been promoted to the position of TV media specialist.

A few months after the pandemic-induced lockdown, I found myself immersed in the world of photography. Setting a personal goal, I dedicated six months to improving my skills, with the condition that if I didn't witness any progress within that timeframe, I would cease my pursuit. However, as I saw significant improvement, I never looked back.
As an active member of Viewbug, a photography-focused social media platform, I've been presented with numerous opportunities to participate in photography contests and challenges. Through these engagements, my photography work has garnered over 1000 "top of the class" recognitions, awarded to photos within the top 30 percentile of votes. Many of my images have received multiple accolades for their exceptional placement.
I feel truly fortunate to have emerged as the winner of two contests and two challenges, while also amassing an impressive collection of 36 community awards.
