A monthly curatorial experience focused on showcasing exciting voices of worldwide short filmmaking. Our goal is to provide a platform for filmmakers, as well as collect a high-quality selection of shorts for viewers and colleagues.

We are very excited to announce we’re beginning monthly online exhibition of short films. All genres, completion years, geographical regions, and levels of production are welcome. We are most interested in good storytelling, unique perspectives, and clear voices.

We will select one short per month to showcase on our platforms. At the end of each year, we will also hold an in-person Christmas screening for all the selected shorts of that year.

Awards & Prizes

If selected we will:
- Showcase your film on our website, online platforms, socials, and newsletter. First Monday of every month.
- Interview you about your experience making the project.
- At the end of each year, we will hold an in-person Christmas screening in London showcasing all the selected work of that year.

Rules & Terms

Please note:
- We notify all submitters in the period between the Deadline they've submitted for and the beginning of the next month. For example, if you submit for the March Deadline, we will notify you after the Deadline, but before April (so between the 25th and 31st of March). This ensures we can review all films before making any final decisions. Please ignore the notification date set on FilmFreeway.
- The exact in-person event date is subject to change.

Terms & Conditions:

1. Eligibility
- Submissions are open to filmmakers worldwide.
- Submissions are open for any genre.
- Submissions are open for any completion year.
- Submissions are open for any level of production or budget.
- Submitted and selected films must be under 30 minutes.
- Production / development companies are allowed to enter.
- All submitters (writer / director / main producer) must be 18 years of age or older.
- No premiere status is required.
- You're allowed to submit a previously submitted project as many times again in future months as you would like.
- If not in the English language, films must have subtitles.

2. Deliverables:
- If selected, filmmakers will be asked to provide, at minimum, a 1080p version of the short film.
- If selected, filmmakers will also be asked to provide high-quality stills from their project, as well as a high-quality poster.

3. In-person screening:
- If selected, your film will be screened in-person at the end of the year of submission in London, UK.
- You will receive complimentary tickets for the director of the film and up to two additional guests.

4. Rights:
- By submitting your film, you confirm you own the rights to distribute and showcase the film.
- You retain full ownership of the film. Having your work showcased with us also does not stop you from sharing your film elsewhere on other platforms.
- Look Aside Films will not be held responsible for any copyright issues or infringements.
- If selected, you acknowledge that Look Aside Films reserves the right to promote your film on our website, social medias, and email lists.

5. Stipulations:
- Submitting your film does not guarantee that it will be showcased.
- No monetary compensation will be given to filmmakers selected as part of our showcase.

6. Disqualification:
- Look Aside reserves the right to disqualify any participants who violate these Terms and Conditions.

7. Amendments:
- Look Aside reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

By submitting a project, participants agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. By submitting a project, the participants agree to be added to Look Aside’s email list for news and updates.
