A film festival unlike any other, The Longhorn Film Festival is dedicated to bringing filmmakers and their films to North Texas as a celebration of artistic spirit. LFF welcomes both feature length and short films in their recommended forms.

Now in it's SIXTH year, LHFF is a premiere forum for international and independent cinema in the area, LHFF is focused on artistic excellence, and serves as a creative center for film networking. Our festival remains devoted to the advancement of filmmakers telling amazing stories with limited budgets. Showcasing films from established masters and emerging storytellers, the Festival welcomes films from around the world. Offering an impressive selection of competitive and non-competitive programming!

Rules & Terms

1. Submissions of feature length films are recommended 90-95 minutes in length. Short films recommended under 12 minutes in length.

2. International films are welcome but must be either in english or english subtitles.

3. By submitting a film to LHFF, you grant permission to screen your film if officially selected into this year's line up.

4. By submitting your film to LHFF, you allow and agree to excerpts of your film to be placed on all marketing and promotional outlets for the festival.

5. You may submit multiple entries, each entry requires its own fee.

6. All films must be submitted via FilmFreeway, as an online screener (Vimeo, Youtube, Dropbox, etc.) please also include password protected link. For screening purposes you will be asked to send either a DCP of your film or a specific file format decided upon at a later time.

7. Selected works may be exhibited via blue ray disk. These shall be provided to the festival prior to showing.

8. As per LHFF policy, all entry fees are non-refundable.

9. Filmmaker must have clearances for film ownership prior to screening at the festival.

10. After notification of selection, films shall be considered for awards. Acceptance into the festival does NOT guarantee the YOU, your actors, crew or anyone else shall be offered award, payment or transportation or any type off lodging.

11. Filmmakers up for festival awards are encouraged to attend the award ceremony. Awards WILL NOT be mailed.

12. We DO NOT issue waivers for a reason, please don't ask. Any email regarding this will not be opened.

    What a great moment for french guys like us ! 5 days in Texas, 2 days of screening, and the Best Short Film award ! What an honor !!! Brett and Tiffany were so welcoming... We've met lots of great people there(certain are now friends) and it was so cool to share experiences between directors... I wanna be back next year !!! Thanks again and long life to The Longhorn Film Festival !!!

    I had the pleasure of screening my short film at the 2023 Longhorn Film Festival, and I must say the best part of the festival is the networking. The organizers brought in some of the best films and filmmakers anyone could ask for. Each day I had the opportunity to hang out with and learn from amazing people. I highly encourage you to submit your film to this festival. Also the BBQ accross the street was yummy and a great place to go and network with your fellow filmmakers.
    The Flying Squirrel Coffee Shop accross the street was also a good place to get coffee before the screenings.

    Had a great time! Was my first time at this festival and enjoyed the experience. Loved watching the different genres of films and seeing the faces behind them. It was very inspiring and motivating to keep growing. Thank you LFF team!

    great people and a great fest. perfect scale of fest too, not too small where it feels cheap and not too big where you feel you are missing a majority of the festival.
