Lonely Christmas Day

Denise Harrison is a multi award-winning freelance writer and film-maker, best known for her hard-hitting content on topics such as poor mental health, homelessness and addiction.
In 2016 after suffering a breakdown, and battling a crippling addiction to alcohol she was hospitalised and admitted into detox where she spent the next few months crawling over hot coals whilst trying to rebuild her life from scratch.
She started to write back in 2017 whilst living in a homeless hostel, both as a coping mechanism and as a way to try and slay some demons / make sense of her head, and her work is now critically acclaimed.

Her hard-hitting blog about that time "Just A Girl- My Life" (justagirl.emyspot.com) has received over 80,000 views and Denise is rapidly becoming a voice to be heard...both in the field of Mental Health and as a creative talent in her own right.

was released in 2018 and went on to win 7 film awards and accolades - including "Best Adaptation" at The Discover Film Awards and Best Writer Grand Jury Prize (In L.A). It has been screened in festivals all over the world, and was most recently showcased by "Women In Film and TV " https://www.wftv.org.uk where Denise was a guest speaker.

She recently wrote and directed the official music video for Ricky and Pauls "Lonely Christmas day" and is currently making final edits to her hard-hitting, one woman play about mental health called "Pandora" which she hopes to bring to theatre in 2022.
