LOFT-UNDERGROUND explores a story of the original russian underground culture starting in 1980’s and traversing all the way towards the present day. With the use of archive VHS footage as well as contemporary mediums, the talks with underground bellwethers of the previous and the current millennium the film undertakes a journey through illegal art-squats and maverick studios, marginal concerts and radical performances, all in order to compose the primal question - Is it possible to rejoice and to be free in a police-supervised government, be it USSR or modern Russia?

Director Biography - Vadim Kostrov

Born in 1998 in Nizniy Tagil, Russia. In 2016 moved to Moscow. In 2017 got accepted to VGIK (Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography) on the Faculty of Cinema Dramaturgy. However, left voluntarily after the first semester because of the ideological pressure and censureship from the tutors. In 2017 shot solely on iPhone the first documentary short-film "Silent Nigh”. In 2018 completed Loft-Underground. Presently working on the first full-length feature “ E-dip”.
