Locally Grown Docs is a short documentary showcase featuring San Francisco Bay Area filmmakers. Audiences can enjoy a harvest of local talent in the time span of one feature film. A filmmakers' Q&A follows the screenings. The event is co-presented by The New Parkway Theater in Oakland, California, and takes place in the Spring and Fall.

Past films have included those from first-time directors to established filmmakers recognized by other documentary institutions, such as International Documentary Association and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Our mission is to support the local community of filmmakers and connect them with new audiences for their work. We are seeking well-conceived and well-edited short documentaries. We accept all styles and subjects of short documentary films.

** For FALL 2016 only, we are only accepting short films by Oakland filmmakers OR about Oakland subjects or characters. **

Each filmmaker selected will receive a small honorarium, based on ticket sales.

For FALL 2016 only, the filmmaker must live in Oakland, California OR the film's subject or characters must be in Oakland, California. Films should be 20 minutes or less.

* Please make sure to specify the city where you live in your contact info or director's bio.

We'd really love for you to attend the filmmaker Q&A.
