Director Statement

During the second wave of Sydney's lockdown, production work was slim to none. So, to keep the creative juices flowing I decided to start filming my local ocean rock pool in the mornings at sunrise. From the first day of shooting, I had no idea of what direction I was going to take the story. I was just enjoying capturing the movement of sunlight, water, and local swimmers who would visit the pool religiously. Until one of the mornings, my lens noticed Liz. Then after a few more mornings, I approached her and we got chatting. She shared some of her swimming experiences and past with me. At that moment I immediately knew I had to tell Liz's story. So, I successfully talked her into being interviewed the rest is history and flowed into the final film. Liz and her family were elated to have her story told & documented forever.
