Liverpool Pride Short Film Competition Night
Part of Liverpool Pride at the Pictures
This competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom ONLY.
See conditions below.

UK resident makers of short films of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Trans*gender interest (LGBT) are invited to submit short films under 39 minutes for an event representing the BFI North West & Central Film Hub region (Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire or Shropshire) to choose an entrant for the BEST OF BRITISH category at Iris Prize 2018.

Liverpool Pride campaigns against homophobia and Trans*phobia across the Liverpool City Region and are very honoured to be partnering with IRIS again this year.

We have run an annual festival since 2010 and are proud to have been screening films every year with the Unison North West LGBT Network.

Shortlisted films will be screened at FACT in Liverpool and one winner chosen to go forward to the IRIS Best of British Short LGBT Awards.

Our screenings at FACT are always lively and if selected for screening, your film w ill be listed on FACT's website and Liverpool Pride's social media and receive widespread press and online media coverage.

The prize for the over all winner of our competition is to be nominated as the North West & Central Film Hub area selection for the IRIS Best of British Short Film Award, which means screening at IRIS 2018 in Cardiff in October. Should your film win at IRIS, the prize is £20,000 of post-production costs for your next film - a truly great prize.

To be eligible for the Liverpool Pride Short LGBT film competition, and then be eligible for the IRIS Best British Short should you win, you must be a UK citizen or have been resident in the UK for at least three consecutive years prior to submitting your film.

Entries must have been completed within 2 years prior to the submission deadline.
Any short film shortlisted for Iris 2016 or 2017 is ineligible to compete.

A great festival that should only go from strength to strength. It was a pleasure and a privilege to be showing our short film for the first time in the UK and alongside such excellent work. I'll follow more work like this thanks to this festival.
