Little Girl Grace is a poignant short film based on one aspect of my wife's childhood in Singapore. Animated by a talented Indo-Canadian, Priyam Mehrotra, my family and I completed the entire production in-house (literally) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the story of Grace, a precocious little girl with a pet chicken and a persistent, inquisitive demeanor, played by our daughter. Adeline Chew Lake plays assertive mom, Ning, who speaks and yells in Cantonese as she controls those around her. You will hear me grunt often as old man Jin who, despite Grace's best efforts, repeatedly turns away her overtures of friendship. We chose the name "Grace" based on Adeline's Chinese middle name "Kiat-Woon" which means "pure grace."
